Hyssop

Writer's picture: Hannah HinschHannah Hinsch

After Psalm 51

Ever before me

snow anoints

the face so turned

a heart

clean as ash

(broken willingly as bone)--

upper rooms

bloodless white

each vein to the point

of flower

quiet

as hush of hyssop on door

an atrium, open-aired

cold

a secret heart

offered whole.
